Tara Hendrick Devlin is a Monterey Peninsula portrait artist and fine art photographer specializing in captivating maternity, baby, child, and family portraiture.  She’s available for parties for “kids of all ages” as well as commercial and non-profit photography work.  Her “funky fine art” images are available for purchase.

I believe in taking photos that preserve a moment in time…that capture the essence of who you are right now…that make that little slice of life live on forever.  We all grow and change so much everyday.  Especially children.  I feel true memories are kept by catching those candid moments between siblings, the giddiness between a newly engaged couple, the connection between a parent and their newborn.  Not by saying “cheese.” But that’s just my take.

All my photos are taken on-location around the Monterey Peninsula (meaning not in a studio).  So, pick your favorite spot.  Or I can suggest a place or two to you depending on the type of photo shoot we’re doing and what effect we want to achieve.  Or let me just meet you at your home. A comfortable, familiar place equals comfortable, relaxed, photogenic people.

I believe you hire me for “my eye.”  The moments and memories I’m capturing are yours. That’s why for a single fee you get the entire photo session, basic photo editing, and a disk with all your high-resolution JPEG images from the photo shoot.  You can personally reproduce images up to 20”x30”. Print as many as you want wherever you want!  Or digitally share all your photos with family and friends!  For a small additional fee, I can make multiple copies of the photo disk and/or upload the photos to an online photography website of your choice.

If I had to categorize my style of portrait photography, I would say “simple, candid, and whimsical.” I am available for individual and group photo shoots.  For maternity, newborn, child and senior portraits. Ask about the “Baby Plan” to save money on a year’s worth of photos of your wee one!

Oh, a note regarding working with children – I love it! As a mama, I know that things come up, though…before and during the photo shoot. I am flexible with scheduling and rescheduling. If during our session, you have to stop to nurse your newborn, change your toddler, or cuddle your kids, I understand!  We won’t rush through anything.  We have plenty of time to set them at ease so I can snap that perfect shot as they dig in the sand, spot a bird in the sky, run to give you a kiss, or just pout.  Yes, you’ll even miss that pout when they grow out of it.

Typical portrait sessions last approximately 2 hours (after all, attention spans only last so long) and pricing begins at $350.  I can deliver you an exact quote once we have discussed your needs.  Pricing depends on a variety of factors including the number of people in the pictures and the number of shoot locations. $100 deposit is required when a date is booked.

Birthdays (for “kids” aged 1 to 101)!  Reunions!  Graduations!  Engagements!  Anniversary parties!  If you celebrate it, I’ll capture it!

Consider this: you won’t have time during your son’s bar mitzvah to take pictures.  And who wants to worry about snapping shots at your “I haven’t seen these friends in forever” get-together.  Let me do it for you, in a “you won’t even know I’m here” photojournalistic manner.

There is so much in the world to see.  So many nooks & crannies to explore.  I love to travel, but can also find a ton in my backyard to photograph.  My travel photography is spontaneous, just snapping the shot as I see it.  My macro (or close-up) images make you see the world in a different way.

Most pictures seen in my gallery are available for purchase in sizes ranging from 4”x6” to 20”x30”, matted or unmatted, framed or unframed.

Some photos stand alone so well.  Others look tremendous as part of a photographic mural of 3 to 5 related images.  Let me know which photo strikes your fancy and I’d be happy to recommend additional photographs that would complete a series.
